The written speech!

Last night after the remarkable speech by Sarah Palin, all the pundits on "conservative" Fox News kept saying her speech was written for her, but she delivered it well. Am I missing something here? I don't recall anyone saying that Obama's speech was written for  him, or that any other speaker at any either of the conventions had their speeches written for them. All I recall is the awe from the pundits at Obama's sensational speech that said nothing about what he is really going to do. Saying I'm going to fix your problems isn't a real policy.

It would be my guess that all those people who show up on the Washington talk circuit with "former so and so's speechwriter" might indicate that all Presidents and candidates have speech writers. Why was it so important to mention that her speech was written?

Sarah Palin probably did have input into her speech, just as any candidate or President does. I'm sure she said, "I really like that", "no way am I going to say that", "that's just not me", or "put something in there about this issue".

Is this a way to degrade the very, very impressive performance from this "inexperienced", small town mayor? Was the media so taken aback by her performance, they had to immediate rationalize how it was possible? I think the explanation is this is one tough woman, and I for one must say...

GREAT JOB GOVERNOR PALIN! GREAT JOB.

Why have any standards?

As with most respectable people, I am completely disgusted with the left and the media's invasion into Sarah Palin's daughters life. They drove the news of her pregnancy by claiming she was the mother of her brother, and the Palins all lied about it for political reasons. When it finally comes out that she is pregnant, and believe or not, her mother is not claiming the child (I hope you detect the sarcasm), the left immediately tries using it to bash Sarah Palin's position on abstenance first education.

This argument is so weak. The argument seems to claim that if you or anyone in your family falls below your moral standards, that you should no longer have that moral standard. Can you imagine what Bill Clinton's standards would be like with his brother Rodger Clinton? Oh wait, bad example.

I guess if Sarah Palin's daughter became a drug addict, then Sarah Palin should just disregard her stance against substance abuse. She should just explain to her daughter that she shouldn't use drugs, but if she's going to, here are some clean needles and don't share them.

What should we do as a country? Should we lower our standards further every time someone that proclaims a standard falls short of it? How long would it be before there were no standards left?
