I'm glad Al Queda is sending out Videos!

During the debate Friday, while Senator McCain and Senator Obama were debating Afghanistan, Obama said "And the point that I originally made is that we took our eye off Afghanistan, we took our eye off the folks who perpetrated 9/11, they are still sending out videotapes..."

Is this Senator Obama's argument about the dangerous repercussions of going into Iraq and not focusing solely on Afghanistan. "..they are still sending out videotapes.." Yipee. I haven't seen any attacks on our homeland that were predicted to happen again by now, but apparently, we now have to admit failure because Al-Qaeda is sending out video tapes. Let them start a weekly sit-com as long as making video tapes is all they can do.

This argument is so rediculous. Democrats love to bash President Bush and talk about how his strategy for fighting terrorism doesn't work, but they don't site reasons it hasn't worked. It has been seven years now, and we were told after 9/11 that more attacks were inevitable. It's seven years later, and we have not had an attack. We've had the time to go back into our slumber, and Al-Qaeda has been reduced to sending out video tapes periodically to let us know that Osama is still around.

If this is the wrong strategy, I'll take it any day. If Al-Qaeda wants to make video tapes, they are going to have to make a good sit-com. Reality TV is just getting old. How about "Everybody hates Osama", "My Name is Osama", or "The Cave"?

The written speech!

Last night after the remarkable speech by Sarah Palin, all the pundits on "conservative" Fox News kept saying her speech was written for her, but she delivered it well. Am I missing something here? I don't recall anyone saying that Obama's speech was written for  him, or that any other speaker at any either of the conventions had their speeches written for them. All I recall is the awe from the pundits at Obama's sensational speech that said nothing about what he is really going to do. Saying I'm going to fix your problems isn't a real policy.

It would be my guess that all those people who show up on the Washington talk circuit with "former so and so's speechwriter" might indicate that all Presidents and candidates have speech writers. Why was it so important to mention that her speech was written?

Sarah Palin probably did have input into her speech, just as any candidate or President does. I'm sure she said, "I really like that", "no way am I going to say that", "that's just not me", or "put something in there about this issue".

Is this a way to degrade the very, very impressive performance from this "inexperienced", small town mayor? Was the media so taken aback by her performance, they had to immediate rationalize how it was possible? I think the explanation is this is one tough woman, and I for one must say...

GREAT JOB GOVERNOR PALIN! GREAT JOB.

Why have any standards?

As with most respectable people, I am completely disgusted with the left and the media's invasion into Sarah Palin's daughters life. They drove the news of her pregnancy by claiming she was the mother of her brother, and the Palins all lied about it for political reasons. When it finally comes out that she is pregnant, and believe or not, her mother is not claiming the child (I hope you detect the sarcasm), the left immediately tries using it to bash Sarah Palin's position on abstenance first education.

This argument is so weak. The argument seems to claim that if you or anyone in your family falls below your moral standards, that you should no longer have that moral standard. Can you imagine what Bill Clinton's standards would be like with his brother Rodger Clinton? Oh wait, bad example.

I guess if Sarah Palin's daughter became a drug addict, then Sarah Palin should just disregard her stance against substance abuse. She should just explain to her daughter that she shouldn't use drugs, but if she's going to, here are some clean needles and don't share them.

What should we do as a country? Should we lower our standards further every time someone that proclaims a standard falls short of it? How long would it be before there were no standards left?

Obama for Change . . .NOT

Did you catch the Obama acceptance spectacle?   Wow what a production.  From what I heard it had more viewers that the opening of the 2008 Summer Olympics.   Not bad.  That is marketing at its finest.

I was watching because I wanted to hear straight from the candidates mouth, just how exactly he wanted to change government and naturally, what's in it for me.

Were you satisfied with that generations old, standard political, whimpy drivel?   My God.  What is new about we are going to save the huddled masses, the republicans are bad, all the problems in the world are because of the other party?

The only real change was Obama's delivery,  spoken like a true Harvard lawyer trying to convince a jury of the great unwashed that he is just like us.  I will give him that, he can talk the talk.

I do want a change.   I want real change.  But not the kind of change a liberal socialist will bring.

I want a roll back.
  • I want a repeal of the 17th Amendment and a return to the representative republic we once were.
  • I want a repeal of the 16th Amendment and an honest look at how the amendment was put into law without ratification
  • I want a smaller federal government based on Federalist principles.
More than anything, I want a serious change in the political process.   Our leaders, whether it be Representatives, Senators, school board officials, or whatever, ARE NOT elected on merit.  Our leadership is a product, like diapers, or fertilizer that is sold by high dollar, Madison Avenue campaigns.

Every imaginable device from the 30-second sound bite to the slick Obama production is designed for one thing and one thing only . . .  to sway people away from doing their own research.  It is designed to make them feel satisfied that they can possibly know enough to elect the leaders of the greatest country in the world without taking any initiative on their own to learn about the candidates.

Are you satisfied that you know enough about Obama or Mccain based on what you read in the headlines, hear in blips on the news, or consume in sound bites.  If you are, do the country a favor, stay the hell out of the voting booth.

Obama wants to steal your dignity

During the DNC lead up to Senator Obama's acceptance speech was the "get to know Obama" video.

A slick presentation to be sure.  Particularly slick was what it left out, not what it so carefully framed.  But if you believe the man, he had humble beginnings and through sweat and hard work made it to and throught Harvard Law.

He waxed eloquently about his humble roots and how his mother would wake him at 4:00 AM to do his home work.  And, from that simple beginning, he is now the Democrat Party chosen candidate to run for President of the United States.

I have no problem with any of that.  As a person who was raised by a mother that was abandoned by her husband just prior to my birth, I know the struggles of a family of 5 (mother and 4 children) trying to survive on the paltry 70 cents an hour minimum wage my mother could earn.  Fortunately, my brothers were older and went to work soon after I was born and helped keep the family afloat.

What little government support was available at that time, my mother flatly refused.  She was not about to let us fall prey to the handout mentality.    It hurt.  While my friends were showing off their new Keds at the start of the school year, I was putting cardboard in the soles of my last years shoes.

But that is not the point.
The point is this.   Through all this, my brothers and I were given the great gift of pride and satisfaction that comes with overcoming adversity.  We all went to college, worked hard and earned success.

We earned the right of self respect.  We earned the right to claim our accomplishments as being our own.  NOT one of us looks to or expects the government to jump in and steal our dignity with a hand out.

Obama wants the take that all away.  He wants the government in every aspect of your life, controlling what you do, how you do it.  Remember you CAN NOT take a hand out without being beholding.

People are not defeated by struggle, like iron they are tempered by it.     They learn from it and are better for it.

True 100% of the time?  Of course not.  But to make it public policy that there is always a handout to relieve your struggling, is not good for the recipients or the economy.  And it further weakens the steel this country was built on. . . the human spirit.

Do we need a Savior or a Leader?

I sat, listening with rapt attention to the Governor of Ohio.

With a cracking voice, strained by the realization he had just been
healed by the great Savior of our land.  I was immediately struck
myself with some interesting revelations.

Obama is going to create jobs, Obama is going to end the war,
Obama is going to bring peace and prosperity, Obama is going
to fix the healthcare system. . . I was breathing harder and harder,
restless with anticipation, waiting to hear Obama is walking on
water!

For a crowd that is hyper-aware of the dangers of mixing
Religion and politics, the Obama camp and supporters are certainly
putting on a revival with all the religious zeal and fervor of an
Evangelistic tent show.  I thought I was listening to the movie
Blind Faith or The Apostle.

Has it not occurred to his devotees that running this country is not a
one-man show?    Or do they know what I have not yet learned that
Obama is a Savior or a Monarch or a Dictator that will single handedly
bring about the miraculous change?

What we need is a leader, not a Messiah.  A doer, not a stage
performer.  Running The United States is a team effort . . .
let?s keep that way.

The young and inexperienced charge

Last night, President Bill Clinton tried minimizing the effectiveness of the young and inexperienced charge against Barrack Obama.

"...the Republicans said I was too young and too inexperienced to be Commander-in-Chief. Sound familiar?"

Democrats keep saying that George Bush didn't have experience, and neither did Bill Clinton. They are missing the point. They may not have had Washington D.C. experience, but both of them were two term Governors. Both of them had to make tough decisions. You can't say that Barrack has. He couldn't even make a decision on when life begins.

From the Civil Forum at Saddleback Church:

Rick Warren: "At what point does a baby get human rights in your view?"

Barrack Obama: "Well, I think that whether  you are looking at it from a theological perspective or a scientific perspective, answering that question with specifity, you know, is above my pay grade."

Are you kidding me? Barrack Obama is not a leader. Plain and simple, you can't be a leader and be that indecisive. The time we are living in requires decisive leadership. If you can't make a decision on when a baby get's human rights, how can you make a decision on when to negotiate with Iran and when to attack, when to stand up to Russia, and when to send troops to war?

Obama can thank Clinton for muddying the inexperienced waters, but Clinton shouldn't claim the republicans were wrong about the "too young and too inexperienced to be Commander-in-Chief." charge. I don't recall him handling the military or terrorism too well.

The constant change America mantra

Am I the only one who cringes every time I hear a Democrat say Barrack Obama is the man who will change America?  Over and over they chant "we need change in America", "it's time for change", and "Barrack will change America and the world".

Who said America needs changed? I for one love the way this country is. From our founding, we've been innovative, independent, self reliant, brave, charitable, and the country where everyone else wants to come.

Barrack talks about "Hope". Well, that's what we have been. We've been the hope of the world. All those under tyrantical governments (you know, the ones the Democrats love), have always looked to us to rescue and inspire them.

I can understand if the Dems said we want to change this or that policy, but they never say that. They always say change America. Well, America isn't our policies. America is the American people and the spirit with which they live their lives, and that for sure does not need to be changed.
